    Now,
I've succeeded to restore (make) each Windows 98 First Edtion version files to MS original ISO by CDIMAGE.EXE version 2.38 (Modified).

The following Windows ME version is possible to do so.

    1. Windows 98 FE Retail Full version.
    2. Windows 98 FE MSDN Full version.
    3. Windows 98 FE Retail Upgrade version.

I've restored Win98 MSDN version at first.

But you must run tzutil on Windows 7 or later as follows.
Also you must edit CDIMAGE v2.39 with Hex Editor.
    (FE08 : 2.39 --> FE08 : 2.38 / FAD8 : 2.39 --> FAD8 : 2.38)
    (FB29 : 425 --> FB29 : 206)

    Example : (Windows 98 MSDN : 1998-SDK-CD14-06.iso or other)
    (ISO SHA1:0a1bed3d0d0f1b4798e839b00e92bd54c335a5d2)

Extract Windows 98 MSDN ISO as WIN98FEMSDN folder.

    Then run as follows :

    TZUTIL /s "Pacific Standard Time"

    cdimage -l"Windows 98" -j1 -h -o -t05/11/1998,20:01:00 WIN98FEMSDN WIN98FEMSDN.ISO

(If you run on Windows XP, you must add -g0 option on cdimage.exe.)

You can make (restore) Windows 98 FE MSDN.
If you make (restore) Windows 98 FE Retail full version by using MSDN's extracted files, first you must do the following.

    1) Delete MSBATCH.INF on WIN98 Folder. This file is for MSDN only.
    2) Replate "PRECOPY2.CAB" with Retail full version's one (SHA1:85e7e1e872b2bd08d514e0e5ad8b17ad990f8904 / Size: 1,332,793 bytes) on WIN98 Folder.

I'm sure Upgrade version is possible to do so.

Not correct (for some at least)

    Code:
      File: en_win98_oem_upgrade.iso
    CRC-32: 8113d1ee
       MD4: 29799d9221ac8faf2169573f5b446a35
       MD5: 84b73c4988da64af6c42ef092dcd8c6a
     SHA-1: 4783ac7d217f4db09227a4dbec8d22e87aa8e62
Not all Windows 98 CD's were made with AutoCRC set. Microsoft were very inconsistent with the way they made some ISO's.

I appreciate your efforts but not sure it's a good idea to spread your files which are at least partially wrong compared to images from original physical media.

    Compare it carefully.
    Your disc is Windows 98 FE OEM/Upgrade. (SHA-1: 4783ac7d217f4db09227a4dbec8d22e87aa8e62)
But my disc is Windows 98 FE Retail/Upgrade. (SHA-1: dc360dbe56cacf187eb1a87d387afa128f6b86b6)
    I've got this as junks.
So disc is different from your OEM/Upgrade.
    I've dumped it and compared.

I never said you were using AutoCRC (infact CRC32 said you weren't) - my point was a general point to anyone reading the thread not to make assumptions that things are the same on one edition as another - as your OEM Upgrade is wrong is just one example.

    I was referring to this:

    en_win98_oem_to_en_win98_oem_upgrade / SHA1:268accd64390bb7b7780e5a494715c7e615e6cdc

You clearly your stating that the to is windows 98 oem upgrade with a sha1 of 268accd64390bb7b7780e5a494715c7e615e6cdc

This is the one I was stating is wrong.

    Oops, I'm sorry.
    That is file name mistake.

    I've included "en_win98_oem_to_en_win98_oem_upgrade".
So I deleted the patch of this part and another one (oem to retail upgrade), hehehe. (Sorry again)

Well I generated that many months ago - just before I posted the thread. I just had no way to confirm if sha1 would match a genuine retail. You could have saved a lot of agro and not gained a bad reputation if you had just confirmed it to me. As it is my opinion of you is somewhat muddied now, and I know at least 2 other collectors feel the same.

    I'll remake it later today.

I think we need some safe repository of delta files.
