Retrieve windows 8.1 keys from unbootable system

    Hi guys, my issue is that I have made hardware changes [mobo+ cpu] to my windows 8.1 machine and it now wants the 8.1 disc to repair but I do not have the keys. is there a way to retrieve those keys for a reinstallation?

    Depends on if the system has a MSDM (oem bios key) or was it activated by a COEM or retail key?

    The latter can maybe found by a pe disk.

    Thanks to everyone for helping me on this. I just did a repair and now everything is ok.

    retrieve the keys for a reinstallation.

    For the MSDM there is no need to retrieve them, they are in the bios.
