Hi, I have read all the info on this forum about how to activate windows seven using the slic 2.1 method. I have upgraded my DELL BIOS. I only got interested in this however AFTER I had already installed Windows 7 on my PC and couldn't activate it. I found I had Windows 7 Professional so I got my hands on Windows 7 Ultimate and did a fresh re-install after first updating my BIOS. I then ran the command to import the DELL certificate and change the product key. both came back successful. When I rebooted it still says it needs activating. My questions are: 1. I downloaded my copy of Windows 7 not through this site and I can't tell whether it is RTM or RC. I understand the RTM version is needed. It says on the setup.exe it is build 6.1.7068. Is this RTM or RC? 2. For my own curiousosity if I were to go out and buy a copy of Windows 7 in a shop this would be a Retail Copy. I though this is what RC meant but now I understand it is Release Candidate. If I bought from a shop would it be RC or RTM? 3. The links to download Windows 7 on the "Windows 7 Repositry post" doesn't say whether they are RTM or RC versions, which are they? this may be obvious but because I don't understand the difference between RC or RTM yet, it isn't to me. thanks in advance,
thanks canouna. So is RC basically a beta version? Is there a way I can tell I have an RC version? And because my build is 7068 and not 7600 this is why it won't activate? thanks,
