I'm trying to find an adapter to connect a sATA 2.5 HDD to a IDE 3.5" interface on the old Playstation 2 with IDE/Network adapter. The problem is that every adapter I find on ebay has the IDE interface on the top of the circuit board. The IDE interface should be on the bottom of the circuit board facing "upwards" to mimic the placement on an IDE HDD. I don't have access to the PS2 until next weekend, so here are a few notepad "drawings" of the problem at hand:

    Code:
    IDE HDD:
40-pin connector's open "gap" and power connector are facing upwards.
Both sit on the BOTTOM of the hard drive

sATA to IDE Adapters on ebay:
40-pin connector's open "gap" and power connector are facing upwards.
Both sit on the TOP section of the circuit board.

Has anyone seen/used such adapter? Can anyone help me find one where the 40-Pin IDE connector sits on the "bottom" of the circuit board, facing "upwards"?

EDIT: added "fake" picture of the adapter I'm looking for:

Is there an IDE cable or does the IDE HDD plug directly to PCB?
Since there's room now your going to 2.5" maybe you can use an IDE cable. If you need to make 1 end male you clip some paper clips to make pins...
    Cheap & nasty I know...

Old thread I know, but you can get a sata to pci/e or a sata to pci card, and bypass the whole connecting to ide/sata thing
(can't do links to newegg because of low post count)
Then use the 2.5 sata drive connected a sata port on the pci/e card

Edit: Bad idea....no pic/e or pci ports on a PS2 board
