    Hi all,

There seems to be all this info on activating servers or Vista blah blah.

but there is next to nothing on CALs... where can i find VLK for CALs I want to test SBS 03... but im not going to spend heaps of money buying the cals if its not going to work for me.

Cals are imaginary licensing on-paper only entities.

They are not installed etc, there is no number , it is only you saying to MS I need 50 Cals & they sell you a paper (or even not) saying that you have it

You are mostly correct, with the one big exception of SBS03 which strictly enforces the number of licenses you have installed. Even with volume licensing there are no "generic" keys. It "appears" that you can reuse keys from one SBS03 on another, as long as each key on the machine is unique and you don't go overboard about it. Put it this way... when I tried an already used CAL pack on a new server it did not tell me it was already in use, but YMMV.

In that case why not to just "test" full Server 2003 or even 2008

    Why insist on SBS03?

    Thanks guys...

Well the quick answer is SBS 03 is cheap :)

but yes... you need a key and i cant find any

So does anyone know where i can find VLK for CALs for SBS 03???

i mean thats kinda my point... you can find activators for Vista and Windows 7...ect ect... but not CAL keys.

You are not going to use legit version (as per question)
Then why not to use W2K3 made up OEM?

HAHA... well @ least that answers the question about being able to use them more than once :)

Funny, I looked everywhere for something like that, how did you find it?

Anyway thanks... so now I know these is no way to get around it and that seems to be more secured then the actual OS keys...

    Hey

All SBS versions come with 5 CALs automatically, so if you want to test SBS 2k3/sk8, you only need SBS license number. Just for testing purposes you dont need to have any CAL's, even if you want to connect 75 users to it. But if you want to take it out of your test enviroment you need CAL's from MS.

Look harder - I posted everything you need ages ago. It is the same as Vista, just different files (again that I posted here ages ago).

You also need to look carefully, he asks about SBS03 (NOT SBS08!)
