    Hello All,

I have searched all over and have tried many fixes for this issue, but have not found one that works.

Every SD Card or Micro SD card I own works in every other device, except when I plug them into Win7.
It tells me that the card needs formatting, I try to, then it tells me Windows can't do it!

I have tried them in each of the 3 Win7 systems I own with the same result!

Any help tackling this problem will be greatly appreciated.

What brand of card is it?
Is it a regular SD card or MicroSD?
Have you tried them on a different OS?

If it's a MicroSD I stick them in my phone and reformat them, sometimes that works.
Most SDcard Manufacturers also have format utilities on their website.

A few diff brands of cards, but mostly SanDisk & Panasonic.
I have both SD & Micro SanDisks.

They all work in Android tablets & phones, Panasonic & Canon cameras, and every other device I put them in.
Even when I usb those various devices to my PC all the cards are recognized.

Yes I can wipe or format all of them in all those devices too, but Windows still won't let me do anything with them!
Win 7 should be able to transfer files from them and onto them.

Hasn't anyone else come across this problem?

    1. Are they formatted with non-FAT file systems, like EXT4?
    2. (Weird one!) Is the card reader controller's driver updated?

Skaendo....I have tried that program, didn't work.
On my Desktop & HTPC I use a usb card reader, my Laptop has a reader port, they both used to work great!

Tito.....When I put them into an Android device or one of my cameras they format right away.
I have also tried updating win 7 drivers but it keeps telling me they all are working properly.

I just finished coping a file from my desktop to my phone's SD card via a usb cable!

Strange, I am at a loss. I use SD cards everyday in both USB adapters and SD ports on 2 desktops and 2 laptops. Both desktops run Win7, one laptop runs Slackware Linux and the other laptop triple boots Win7, Win10 and Slackware (or another random Linux/BSD distro) and I use the same SD cards in all of them. Never had a problem.

What brand of PCs are you using? Just for refrence I am using 3 Dells and 1 HP.

    I'm at a loss too!
Going to buy a new usb external card reader port.
If that doesn't work I'm going to be really confused!!

All cards that have lock tabs are unlocked.
I don't know what readyboost is.

    Thanks for the input, EFA11.
