This happened on my eee PC 900 using Win 8.1 Pro and Win 10 Enterprise. Device manager shows "Code 47" (preparing for safe removal) on the EEE PC for the Mass Storage. I needed to disable SD-Card in BIOS and re-enable it after a reboot. (I think the eee PCs SD Card reader is connected to its internal USB ?) So I created a shortcut to "F:" and dragged it to the desktop. Everytime I insert the SD-Card I have to doubleclick the shortcut to "F:", so that Windows 8/10 will start to detect it and asks what I want to do with it. Then, sometimes on removing the SD Card, re-inserting it, Windows 10 sometimes detects it, but most of the time I still have to click the shortcut to "F:" to make Windows detect it once again. Its Intel 82801 USB Controller (ICH6 Family) p.s. Someone told me a similar story about his Windows 8 Desktop today : The SD Card gets not detected anymore and shows a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. You need to deactivate the USB mass storage and restart, to be able to use SD-Card again (it will get detected, no need to click a shortcut to it) You need to do this everytime you remove it and want to re-insert it. What could be the reason for it ?
