Hi, I am running Windows 11 ver 22H2 and the search functionality is broken, if I right click the start button and select search nothing happens, left clicking start brings up the menu box but if I click inside the search box at the top the menu disappears. I have searched online for this issue and found that if the "touch keyboard and handwriting panel service" is not working then this affects the search service. I ran services.msc and this service is completely missing from the services list on the affected system but is present on my other systems where the search is functioning normally, and I can find no help online in restoring it apart from a new install. Does anyone have an idea what i could try to reactivate this missing service? T.I.A
Tried Windows 11 install was from a USB drive created by Media Creation Tool, not sure how to check index is still running, I did a refresh on this and it seemed to complete ok.
Tried all these, no joy, its odd that the "touch keyboard and handwriting panel service" is missing from the dysfunctional machine, can't find any instructions online on how to reinstall or reactivate this service, it is an old install of Win 11, had loads of updates and recently swapped the Nvidia graphics card for a ATI, I think I will bite the bullet and do a clean install, probably loads of junk in the registry. I miss the Amiga days when the system files and application files were always separate.
