Now that version 2 of the XP SP4 Final XP SP4 was recently released by harkaz on the RyanVM.net forum I wanted to try this out for myself. It recommends that slipstreaming should be performed using an SP0 disc to keep the size of the ISO image file to a minimum. I only have an old Home SP0 Retail disc available to me at present. I'd like to create convert this disc to an SP0 OEM copy if possible but I can't find an xdelta file to do that. Coverting my disc to Pro SP0 OEM would also be something I'd like to do if possible. I've tried scouring the web for untouched copies MSDN ISO files of Home and Pro SP0 OEM. Again, I was unable to find what I was looking for. Can anyone point me to any of the aforementioned delta or ISO files and or offer any advice or knowledge you might think is pertinent to my goal(s) please? Thank you, 5aLIVE.
Hi LostED, unfortunately that long list doesn't have links to the files I am seeking. Digging around a little further on the web, I think I've found the ISO files I'm looking for have the following hashes and volume labels: Windows XP Home Edition RTM OEM Label: WXHOEM_EN MD5: 92791e53f1915cad1ec860881d5ba516 SHA-1: 5fcbae9b71d7d2d6d3d1b48b739f04f7cc99d17a CRC32: ffffffff WINDOWS.XP.PROFESSIONAL.OEM Label: WXPOEM_EN Size: 512,327,680 bytes SHA1: D45D3BA6A37E924EF8DDFB43DEFCCFD3B218CB6B So far, I have only found .torrent links which have a minimal number of seeders. I'd prefer a direct file download link if at all possible.
@ 5aLIVE, to be perfectly honest does it really matter SP0 retail or oem I may be wrong but I don't think you will gain that much space and also when slipstreaming older hotfixes and updates are superseded. You are still going to end up with an unofficial cd and considering that there are certain folders that can be removed from xp iso to gain space. Will get back to you on that just on my laptop at the moment think I still have details on one of my desktops. You will also find information on MSFN forums but this was a long time ago
@Urie, In this particular instance I wanted to use the OEM version of SP0 so that I could add SLP files to the Unofficial SP4 image file. I don't how much space is saved by using SP0, I just thought it best to follow the advice given in the unofficial SP4 development thread. I'll also delete a redundant few folders from the created image file to reduce the size further. I look forward to reading about the details you speak of.
I could not find my original notes but found another file with some details on folders that can be removed.
@Urie,Thanks for the info, I'll put your tips into action to shrink the installation ISO further still. @Oz, I believe I have v2 of the OEM RTM. I'll check the hash to confirm this one way or the other. Many thanks.
