Well, simple story.... want to take a new notebook, budget is INR 20,000/- to 25,000/- (umm.. $400-$500 as long as 1 INR = 0.020163 U.S. dollars).

Dell, HP & VAIOs are mostly common among my friends, so I wanna try something new as ASUS, Samsung or GIGABYTE. Acer and Lenovo are also welcomed. ;)

As long as service, Dell & HP are best in India. They offer 1 yr on site warranty plus 1 yr accidental warranty. But who cares of these as long as MDL is there ;) & I willn't play discus throwing with the lappy :D

Mainly for my college project, HD movies, running VMs (wanna try out OSX also), surfing MDL ;), minimum gaming ~ thats it.

Try to make it quick; withing 3 or 4 days.. so guys, please give me suggestions.. :worthy:

    Regards,
    Tito

If `State' means North-East, then Dell online is a better option. For my wife's sister, I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop on 31-12-2011 for 45K. 42K will get the same without the Nvidia GPU 1GB.

    core i5-2430, 500GB 5400 rpm, 15.6 (768p screen), 4GB RAM.

Hey Tito, yup I too buy all my books from flipkart. For 20-25K, I doubt you'll get anything more than core i3. I'd say go for that plus the best screen available. Ram can always be upgraded later when budget becomes available. I've bought a couple of laptops in kolkata and dont remember seeing any brands other than dell, hp, lenovo and acer. But spec for spec, IMO dell is the best value for money. If you're interested, I can pm you the dealer in Kolkata.

:DNow all you have to do is mod and flash new BIOS and get all the drivers from anywhere other than the Asus site since they are notorious for being lazy at updating their drivers.

I would go for Dell. I got an Dell XPS 15 (L502X), and it rocks! Even for video-work! And you easily find rebate codes on the internet to get it cheaper. If it is outside your budget, maybe look for a used one.
