Just as the title says...i updated my bios back to U52FAS.208 after i got it and now nothing relating to slic shows up. I can't activate my laptop with the asus cert either. The slic dump tool is telling me "Dump Error ! (SLIC Table Not found ! )" The weirest part is that i was able to use the same bios file (that has slic 2.1) and nothing works.

    That's an EFI/Insyde Bios.
You need to request a SLIC Mod in the Insyde Request Thread.

But the thing is...before i sent my laptop in for repair...I HAD SLIC 2.1! And it's using the same motherboard (the same roms work on it) so what the hell is going on?!

Oh and it says it's an AMI bios...

    "American Megatrends Inc."

I mean...it came preinstalled with windows 7 so it HAS to have slic 2.1.....

That means it is an AMI Aptio Bios which is in fact an EFI Type BIOS.
Obviously they Flashed a NON-SLIC 2.1 Bios when it was in for repairs.

Contact ASUS and ask for a SLIC 2.1 version of your BIOS.

They have two bios files on their site (i used them both before i rma'd and both activated windows) And now using them does nothing. Will calling asus make a difference?

And thanks for the bit of info on the bios, speaking of that, what's the difference between a regular bios and the one i have?

You may have had a Valid COA Serial/Key from ASUS not SLIC 2.1 OEM Activation.
Are you sure the others had SLIC 2.1 in them ?
Is there a Serial/key on a sticker somewhere on your PC or Win 7 DVD ?

The Aptio Bios is Completely Different from a Normal AMI Bios.
    They use completely different Code.

So does anybody have any ideas? about why it doesn't already have slic 2.1? It should be the same motherboard (since the same bios updates work on it) is there something different about efi bios?

And yes i'm sure it was slic 2.1 because i installed my own version of windows 7 ultimate after getting the laptop and used an asus cert + key found on here.

The first clue was when i turned on the laptop and there was a message saying the key was invalid...

Like I already said, Request a SLIC 2.1 Mod in the Insyde/EFI thread.

alright i did that but do you have an explanation as to why the slic is suddenly not working now, even after using the bios update that does have slic 2.1?

I have No Idea, but since they work with this type of Bios, they probably will know what the problem is.

Is there any program that can check if a bios rom has a slic table?

You can use R/W Everything which you needed to use to make the report required for that Mod request.

Yup...R/W Everything doesn't even show a slic tab.....

My mind is totally full of well....you know

So my only conclusion is that ASUS nuked the slic table when they fixed my laptop...is that even possible? Isn't the slic table just apart of the bios? And let's say i never had the SLIC table in my bios...why was i able to activate windows with the asus cert + generic win 7 ultimate key? I mean....it was definitley working because i wouldn't get a message saying windows isnt genuine when i got it back...

So now the question is will an insyde/efi bios mod even be able to fix this?

laptops that came preinstalled with OS have COA stickers with product keys. Try to activate online.Activating online does'nt require slics.

First thing I would be doing is contact the repair center you sent machine to it is their problem.
