    With OEM built units being reportedly scheduled to hit the markets next month I would suspect that we should see keys for WHS and WSSE to be in the wild somewhere around the end of next month or the beginning of June. It all depends on how soon someone is able to extract the key from retail units or OEM media. We will not have any correctly working activation scenarios until that time.

    Hello folks, i have a Genuine OEM manufacturer i.e, Elitegroup and i have successfully made an OEM XP SP3 DISC,can i achieve that in installing Win server 2008 VL (i do not have the keys) but is it possible to make an OEM Server 2008.
    Although their is only a limited number of manufacturer that has Server 2008 supported.

    Also please can any one tell me is their an OEMBIOS Checker for 64bit version.

    I would be odd to include no slic, but at the same time get Key Type: OEM:SLP

    There is no certificate installed by default?

    It must be the first Windows Storage Server Standard 2008 available

    Also strange, as by now it should be R2

    Thanks anyway

    Unknown about the cert, how would I inspect for that on a running system?

    It definitely has no SLIC. But the key checks out as OEM:SLP in both VAMT and the online pid checker.

    If I had generic media, I would try to build one and test this out.

    Thanks. No cert either, did not expect one since no slic in bios. Just a key for whoever wants to use it, provide your own cert & slic.

    @Myrrh,

    If you haven't gone to far in your installation.
    Maybe you could Sysprep and image the box.
    Then try the image on a VM with a SLIC'd BIOS. ;)

    I loaded the LaCie recovery media into a VM on Win2008R2 Hyper-V SP1 with the Dell SLIC mod. It instantly became genuine when I copied over the 2.0 cert and ran "slmgr -ilc dell.xrm-ms"

    Final confirmation, it's a valid OEM:SLP key for WSS2008.

    Interesting. Another VM, WSS2008 standard installed from generic MSDN media then activatid via SLIC/cert/key and it appears fine, but after reboot becomes non-genuine. This persists till the Hyper-V host is rebooted then it works again, exactly once. I shall have to test this on real hardware.
