Confirmed. Using ASUS P5Q and easy method for AMI inserting Dell SLP1&2 and using MSDN Server 2008 Std (32 bit) and the Key supplied in this thread and a Dell cert I successfully installed and activated server 2008 std.

You guys (and Regina) do great work. Excellent thread and work uncovering the key and testing everything. Excellent work Regina and all!

Now back to good old server 2003 for me personally, it runs my 32 bit older software without complaint.

FYI-Vista drivers worked great for 2008 as expected....nice that it supported Intel ICHRAID8-9-10 without need for additional drivers.

The Dell OEM disc will install the Standard edition automatically. If you remove the pid.txt file and the $OEM$ folder from the iso, you can choose to install the Datacenter edition. Install without a key then replace the tokens.dat file and apply the key.

I can confirm that it does work but there are some discrepancies. If you go into the system properties, it shows that the datacenter is activated but if you use the slmgr -dlv command or the MGADiag.exe, it also shows activated but it reports your OS as a Standard edition.

There are also some reports that you lose some Datacenter functionality. I have not been able to confirm this.

    x86 OEM Hyper -V

Is the x86 STD OEM installation capable of Hyper -V ?
It is not in my features list.

Does this work even for a x64 M$ Win2008 server trial installation such as 6001.18000.080118-1840_amd64fre_Server_en-us-KRMSXFRE_EN_DVD.iso?

    Yes it will work fine.
There is very little difference the trial and RTM versions.
Its only a handful of files, basically the ones that deal with the 'Time Limit'

    @Mr Been,

Once you've downloaded the .ISO, install it and manually add the "Cert" that matches the "SLIC" in your BIOS and the Serial.

When you've got it activated and working, then start adding files to your Sources folder. :)

    Thank you ZaForD,

I got it working. The new Server.ISO I downloaded was 200Mb greater than my old one.
    This one -" 6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_Server_en-us-KRMSFRE_EN_DVD.iso " - is GOOD!! Server 2008 is running & activated.

Thank you for your kind help

Will this work with Server Web Edition?

I see that you can install Datacenter/Enterprise, replace it with the tokens.dat from the Standard, and then activate with the Standard OEM key. This leaves you with a full Datacenter/Enterprise install.

But does it work with a *lesser* version like Server Web 2008?

Does anybody know/think that if I install Web 2008, replace the tokens.dat from the Standard, and activate with the Standard OEM key, I will have Web 2008 install?

(I alraedy have the SLIC installed and a matching cert)
