I made a couple of shortcuts to websites and added a keyboard shortcut to it, so whel I press ctrl+alt+m my webbrowser opens in mdl, ctrl+alt+h goes to hotmail etc. This works without problems until I reboot my pc. They won't work anymore after rebooting, but when I right click the shortcuts the shortcut key is still there. They start working again if I re-enter the shortcut key that was already there. Does anyone know why windows forgets the shortcuts and maybe give a solution? Thanks
Did it used to work before? I am really not sure as to why it forgets. If it did not work before then it is probably a win7 bug dude. Try googleing around and see what you can find. If you want I can try to reproduce your error on my end and see if it forgets my shortcut key as well.
i had a simular issue with short cut keys too...everytime i pressed ctrl+alt+del the keys would become deactivated. so i would have to press ctrl+alt+del to activate them again. try that then cancel to see if they are activated again.
They are not activated after ctrl+alt+del. And I don't know if it used to work before cause it's the first time I ever created shortcut keys. I'll test it in a vm tomorrow, this pc hasn't had a clean install since december or januari so maybe something got messed op meanwhile. But IF it's a bug I wonder why it wasn't found with beta or rc, cause it's a pretty major one.
It works on a clean english install. Can someone else test it also, maybe on a non-english vesion? EDIT: After googling around a bit I've found that windows never remembers hotkeys. On every logon it searches for shortcuts that have hotkeys assigned, but it only looks in the start menu. So I created a "Hotkeys" folder in "Menu Start\Programs" and placed my shortcuts in there, everything works fine now.
