Hey everybody .. this is my pc specifications .. CPU : Intel Celeron 2.40GHz Ram : 2GB DDR Video : Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 what do you think ?? Thanks in advance ..
Hi, even though Windows 7 would run on those specs it wouldn't be very optimum. I would go with XP for a faster computer even though 7 is a much better OS.
I suggest you to go with Windows XP Professional Edition. Well going with Windows 7 is not a harm.... but before installing Windows 7, check all your devices are compatible with Windows 7. But still I suggest, as you have a Celeron Processor... I think you should go with Windows XP!!!
ameykelkar has a very good point, better check hardware compatibility before spending your money. Windows 7 has a lot of older drivers embedded but there's no guarantee. Add-on cards can be used to replace some components but a chipset is another story. I have an FX 5200, can't recall if the Vista drivers worked or not on Windows 7 but the card has no official Windows 7 support from nVidia.
i've installed win7 32bit on two intel celerons ,you should be good to go,just check hardware compatibility before you encounter headaches
i have done a few celerons with your spec or less, i install Windows 7 home basic 32bit, works a treat
His first post states "Should I Go for xp or 7 ??!". Makes no since to "Go" for something you already have. If he had XP installed, he would probably be asking for Windows 7 upgrade advice and not which OS he should run.
i'd go with XP--it would respond pretty fast with all that RAM; 2.40GHz processing power seems a lil low for 7 in my opinion
I have an older system too and no issues...only had one old scanner that would not work but i never used that anyways..all other issues had updated drivers that installed automatically...windows 7 is by far easier to join networks and have other computers join its network than XP ...win 7 even running on an older system is by far easier to manage than if you went with the winXP
I would only install WIN7 if you are willing to replace the CELERON chip... Very easy replacement... Only takes about 10-20 minutes... If you do not want to replace the CELERON with a REAL CPU, I would stick with XP... The issue is NOT so much the Ghz of the chip... it is the limited cache on the CELERONs!
Definitely 7 I have 7 on this: - 2 GHz Athlon 64 (Yes, a single core ) - 1 GB RAM - ATI Radeon Xpress 200 (integrated, so the usable RAM is 1GB - 128 )
