Hi, I'm on build 9879 that's up-to-date, and attempting to use the latest desktop version of Skype; version 7.0.0.102. The program runs, but as soon as I login it crashes with a dialogue box that says: "Skype has stopped working". Previous versions of Skype on the Windows 10 TP worked without a hitch. I would use the Modern version of Skype, but previous experience with it was bad as the UI seems to be designed for a 2nd grader, and I don't have a Microsoft account (MS should allow users to login to the Modern version of Skype using their Skype user name). If anyone has experienced this, please let me know if there is a fix or workaround.
no problems with skype either....try un-intall it and d\l a new copy....make sure to remove all skype folders c:\ drive and registry. before u start the new install.
Yes, this is for the desktop version. I ran build 9901 yesterday (just as a test) and downloaded the latest version of Skype directly from Microsoft's website, and that version crashed also. Before trying compatability mode on 9901, I reinstalled 9879 and downloaded the latest version of Skype, and that crashed upon logging in. I have tried compatibility mode for Skype on build 9879, selecting both Windows 7 and Windows 8, and the program still crashes. I sent a crash report to Microsoft, but they're probably already getting the telemetry data through Windows 10's background feedback service. Is there a known older version that works? endbase mentioned he's using Skype 7.0.85.100, but the version that comes from Skype.com is 7.0.0.102.
I just did an inprogram update from desktop version but i can look for you for that build on internet I will post it if I find the download version
Hi, no, I had no success. Just for fun I reinstalled the TP of Windows 10 and updated to 9879. I then downloaded Skype from the link you provided and got the same crash when I executed the program. I also tried different variations of compatibility mode and none of them worked. What did work, however, is version 6.22.81.105. So the problem looks to be with the newest versions of Skype and Windows 10.
Also, I tried updating version 6.22 from within Skype and I get this error: " The specified account already exists". So I'll just stick with 6.22 until Microsoft fixes whatever problem is causing this.
Skype seems to be confused. Yesterday it installed itself as 7.0.59, but today after re-installing Windows 10 it now installs itself as 7.0.0.102. When I try to install 7.0.85, or 7.0.59, it warns me that I am already using the latest version and do I really want to install an older version. lol what ever... I will wait for it to update itself. OH, and all three versions ran flawlessly for me on Win10 so far.
