    ???
    are you sure?

My Extensa 5635G had activated SLIC (2.1) and came with Windows 7 Home Premium X64... i just sold it last week or so because 15.6' screen is just to small for my daily work ;)
Off course I made a image of the System & Recovery partitions first :)

Request a BIOS mod, or use loader... the BIOS SLIC is crippled on purpose and 'No' we do not have to tools to uncripple

Are assured? And why an official HP MDI Tool switches on and off inactive SLIC Table by one command? But to me it is interesting BIOS from ACER...

    Yes I am assured... :)
For HP the tool has leaked...for Acer until now none have leaked

Have you tried to activate?? Have you tried to reflash with the bios supporting windows 7?? I would use the DOS files from the download, then use PHLASH17 to flash the whole bios. WInflash may not allow the SLIC to be flashed??

With the official BIOS (from acer site) activation has not passed.
Now I activated Windows 7 by means of modified BIOS (with integrated active SLIC). Programm - WinPhlash from acer.
I do not understand another: if there is a version of this laptop with Windows 7? That should be native BIOS with activated SLIC on official site, but I have not found it!
As open there is a question with activation SLIC table in BIOS.

No, not nessecary... it is possible the bios is 'unlocked' before shipping the ones pre-activated with Windows 7...
A bios update does not touch this piece of the bios, so the activated SLIC stays activated on thoso, the crippled bios stays crippled with same bios update

I also found that the BIOS of my Acer AspireOne D250 ( XP Home Pre-load) contains SLP, SLIC 2.0 and SLIC 2.1
Is it possible to find how Acer switch the BOIS moudle by compare the BIOS dump from the same model but in different system pre-load.

There is one way to try to do something:
SlLIC Toolkit 3.0 has button Diagnosis on Advanced tab
When you press button Diagnosis full DMI dump is making.
If you can do such dump on same NB models but shipped with different OS (Free dos, Vista, 7) it may be possible to find the place in DMI where this SLP mark is located.
If you Know WHAT and WHERE, it is possible to program a small utility like HP DMI tools.

The biggest problem here to get the different DMI dump of the same models.
