    Hi All
Can Anyone Help This Problem Came Across Over The Weekend A Friend Of My As A New Touch Pc From Acer He Set It Up Ok But When He Type Is Name In The Account Administrator He Type Petre He Sould Have Type Pete
By The Time Notice The Error He Had Removed The Unwanted Programs That Came With The Pc & Install His Own Programs & Applications
He Has Change Is Name To Pete In The User Accounts
But When He Goes To Drive c:\ & Click User It Still States Petre & Public
Can He Resolve This Without The Need To Going Through All The Returning The Pc To Factory Settings & Remove & Re-Installing All Over Again
As This Would Take Up Quite Some Time

Have tried this and it may not work as advertised. In some places, the name may be changed, but not in many other places.

You have to go into the windows registry to change the key above.
Start > Run > Type "regedit" without the quotes

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

Just One Question The Folder Named Petre In User On Drive C:\
Can Not Be Renamed As That Folder Is Locked
I Understand Using Regedit But Tried That & Restarted Pc & Still Have The Same Folder Named petre On Drive C:\ Under User

I Have Tried Googling For More Info Or Help But Without Success

A Friend As Said Try To Create A New User Account With Administrator Rights & Transfer Existing Files To New Account Then Remove Old Accont
Not sure If That Would Work & May Make Things Worse
    Could Someone Please Advise
    Thanks in Advance

create a full administrator account ,(different from the other type eg. petre(administrator)) log off and log on in the new administrators account, go to control panal ,user accounts ,and click on manage an account ,double click on the petre account , you should then see an option to change the account name .
if you still dont see that option I would use the admin account to create a new account (Pete) and copy the contents from the other account folders ,when your done delete the unwanted account .and you can also then log in as (Pete and remove the administrators account too .
    see below:

To enable the Windows 7 administrator account in home premium or lower type.
copy the following (line below) into a cmd window and click enter on the keyboard. and your done.
    net user administrator /active

To disable the Windows 7 administrator account in home premium or lower type.
copy and paste (line below) into a cmd window and hit enter on your keyboard.
    net user administrator /active:no

To enable a Windows 7 administrator account:

    for ultimate versions

1- type secpol.msc in the search area click enter,

2- In the left list, choose "Local Policies", then "Security Options"

3- Set "Accounts: Administrator account status" to Enabled.

4- Set "User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for the Built-in Administrator account" to Disabled.

to remove admin in Ultimate ,just reverse that process.

PS when opening cmd window ,right click it and choose run as administrator.
