Has anyone here done any network file transfers comparing transfers between (2) WIN8 machines with SMB 3.0 and (2) WIN7 machines with SMB 2.1?

I'd like to know if there is any real difference between WIN7 and WIN8 network speeds over Gigabyte Ethernet. I use a Win7 file server in my home for the rest of my computers. I guess basically I am looking at a reduced overhead as unless transferring from cache to cache saturating the Gigabyte Ethernet via HDD is a pipe dream.

SMB 3.0 (WIN8) is suppose to be a big step forward, but only on like machines (OS) as it will default back to the lower SMB with older OS connections.
