The best part of this thread is the fact that you added useful information for anyone that may be looking for a solution to the woes you have had to face with this horrible OS
I hope you are prepared to be stuck with 7 for 10 years, because MS won't turn back from win8 philosophy for sure.
ohhhhhhhh another important thing I forgot to mention... I absolutely hate the fact that right clicking on a file takes a very long time until the context menu appears. I googled this problem and others say it might be one of the programs that installs a right click context menu entry that might be causing the issue. well it happens right from the start as soon as I am installing my drivers BEFORE any installation of other software so I know that's not the case! I love how my right click happens instantly in Windows 7. Small things, but very annoying, and when you add them up, you get a very annoying Windows 8 experience
well i dont have any of that problems, when i go to my sisters laptop with have Win7 is like going from Windows 2000 to Windows 98, Big titlebars, inconsistence everywhere, etc. Everyone has their own opinion and how to adapt to new things, simple as that Just install StartisBack and your fine, Win7 with improvements Btw, not sure where exactly you google but yes you are right, right click can have that problem, copying files can be slow compared to Windows 7, ... do you know what is the cause of it? its simple really, Windows Defender Disable Windows Defender and watch all that problems go away and seeing the OS fly over Windows 7
It looks like this thread is one of those threads that need a poll of some sorts since everyone's opinions and experiences are different with Windows 8. I really cant complain on my part about Windows 8 except the part where I have to use aftermarket drivers for my graphics seeing I have hybrid graphics (AMD & Intel) and HP doesn't have official Windows 8 drivers for my Envy 17. Besides that, it can be pretty solid at times.
Oh, bro, Windows Defender and Windows Compatibility Assistant and System restore are the first things I disable after installing Windows 8 I use Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2013 or NOD32 6 Antivirus but this right click problem happens before the installation of either one of them
oh darn! I haven't payed with the Firewall with my Windows Server 2012 yet (still studying my Network_ before I jump onto MCSE 2012) but that is BS man to configure every single rule! I think the person who came out with Windows 8 was on some heavy Whitehorse over dosage
strange, like others i dont have any problems with right click also, even on fresh Win8 install, just pointed out Windows Defender because it is the cause of some of the hitcups of Windows8 and could be your cause of it, guess not
I didn't know AVG Free, thank you for the hint. But I can't find required/compatible OS on AVG website. I have Windows Server 2012.
