Yes. If you are running Win 8.0 you will continue to receive security updates until further notice from Microsoft.
This is not a controversial thing. They issued a big patch to fix a lot of problems. If people purposefully avoid a patch for no good reason, then it's their own fault they don't receive further updates. Remember when they did the same thing for win7 to install the sp1? You had to install like 97602 or whatever it was to be able to install sp1. If people avoid installing that kb file because a bunch of idiots with bad anti-virus programs couldn't install it correctly, then they didn't get the sp1 or sp1 hotfixes. Would you rather MS have control over your anti-virus program, shutting it down whenever they felt like it? or your firewall program?
That sure. win8 is older OS then 8.1. But Win8.1 Update 1 is an April 2014 update of win8.1. So why win8.1 users should get new updates before the April 2014 update ?
By the way, only for information - Is there any registry tweak not let Windows Update install Win8.1 Update 1 ?
What it means is that any noobs or dumb windows vista and before users to stupid to due all updates Microsoft deem Critical won't be able to update next month and going forward. Its to keep the I want to be unsafe and sue Microsoft because I do types down. The old operating systems won't be a Trojan/virus spreaders as bad that way because they will cease to function. It also means that your windows 8/8.1 systems are forced to be security updated so the people to dumb to know how to press update button once a month types can not infect the rest of us as easily.
