I always get installers from their source (eg. CCleaner from piriform.com) as much as I can. For the rare file I cant get, I download it in a VM, scan it, check the files version numbers etc, then install it. Softoic kinda looks like cnet, which IMO, isnt the best place to get software. However thats just my opinion.
sometimes they do not provide credible information about the developer of this or that tool or whatsoever you're willing to download. And probably some of the files could be listed there without the permission of the developer. But all in all I agree that it's a nice source of free software downloads.
I haven't had any problems with softronic but I rarely use it. Check out filehippo for clean downloads of software including current releases and previous releases. A lot of software becomes bloated over time so I prefer the older releases.
