Hi all! I am attempting to build a software compatibility list for Windows 7 Beta 1 (32 bit). Please post all the software that you have tried, with the full version number - and if it worked / required workaround / did not work (reason or symptom)... Here is mine for now: FFDShow rev.2301 (2008-11-05) - Worked ImgBurn 2.4.2.0 - Worked MagicISO 5.4 (Build 0256) - Worked Googletalk 1.0.0.104 - Worked Microsoft Office 2007 SP1 - Worked WinAMP 5.541 - Worked Nero 8.3.2.1 - Worked Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1302.1018 - Worked Yahoo Messenger 8.0.0.716 - Worked WinRAR 3.61 - Worked Adobe Reader 9.0.0 - Worked Java 6 Update 10 - Worked uTorrent 1.8.1 - Worked Picasa 3 (Build 57.53.0) - Required Workaround Brings up the "Picasa is ready to scan for Pictures..." window everytime I open it (as a user or as an administrator - same result). Irrespective of the option I select (Complete Scan / Only Scan My Documents..), it gives the File Association window. It does not scan at all... When I manually added a folder to Watch, it did scan and give me the photos in it. Google Chrome 1.0.154.36 - Worked (Was surprised about this one, what with the tweaking required for Build 6801!!)
I want other MDL-ers advice on Antivirus - I tried McAfee 8.5i in Build 6801, and had to throw it out... And I kinda hate the "Home Versions" And interestingly, none of the software i have listed above "found" an update, though I know some are old and have updated versions. Picasa 3 said it was up to date when I manually Checked for updated! Yahoo did not bother throwing up the usually update window either. Weird??!
PostgreSQL 8.1-8.3 = fail to start service, solution? PostgreSQL 8.0 = works fine GTA IV & other games= got problems with my resolution: got fullHD but GTA keeps running in a small window with black background around (but got not enough gpu power to play it at fullHD). Nvidia Driver -180.48_geforce_winvista_32bit_english_whql -> WORKS Hauppauge hvr1300 driver - 88x_2_122_26109_WHQL -> WORKS with Media Center Creative Audigy - Driver SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0001 -> doesn't work but the WDM driver installed by W7 it's OK. Firefox and Thunderbird -> WORKS Urban Terror -> WORKS (only after instaling Nvidia driver) Virtual Box -> WORKS Logitech Quickcam E3500(Software & Driver) -> WORKS Foxit Reader -> WORKS AVIRA Antivirus -> WORKS
Just installed Build 7000 and all these programs installed fine. AmazonMP3Installer Zune Software v3 Notepad2 v2.1.19 HandBrake-0.9.3-Win_GUI vlc v0.9.6 QT Alt v270 Real Alt v190 FlashFXP v3.6.0 Miranda IM v0.7.13 hashtab211 WindowsLiveSync wrar380 WHSConnectorInstall vPP1 ESET NOD32 3.0 Antivirus These either don't work or have problems. daemon tools 4301-lite - won't install LiveMesh - has problems with Aero theme, but a fix is on the way.
Honestech TV Plus 3.0 - Works, but the Windows theme temporarily switches to basic McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i (with antispyware module) - Works Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.2034 - Works Picasa 3.1 (Build 70.71) - Works (The last two did not auto-update from my initial versions, manually downloaded and installed)

Avira Personal Free, works perfectly here. Action Centre reports Avira is using old defictions and licking update makes Avira update, perfect.

Live messenger is working, Yahoo Messenger is working, Skype is working, Utorrent is working LogMeIn Does not install, you have to manually install it, EasyBCD is working, Steam is working, All Half-Life 2 modules are working, GeForce Fx 5500 is working, Bearshare is working, Winrar is working, youtube downloader is working, FMS (Flying Model Simulator) Does not work, MSI DualCore Center is working, Creative Sound Blaster Live! software and driver does not work, MSI Live Monitor 3 is working. thats everything ive used so far
Some not mentioned so far: COD 5 W@W installed and ran great. 3DMark Vantage no probs 3DMark06 couldn't complete testing. Kept dropping to desktop due to D3D errors. Logitech Setpoint 4.70 no probs. Eset Smart Security 4.0.68 Beta no problems. Outpost Firewall 2009 - BSOD - unable to install. Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 Drivers (latest 2008 beta) working. Note: the Daniel_K modded Vista Soundblaster drivers for Audigy based sound cards are far superior than anything else out there. Fully functional and no volume problems. Sounds as good as XP's sound.
Acdsee? acdsee: sombody was able to make it work? it seems to have problems whith the database and it doesn't load the thumbnail.
ac97 for realtek sound card can be installed but not fully functional. it shows all the option to choose from (if you are using 2.1,5.1 etc) but you wont be able to configure it.
All software from Adobe master collection Build 11.0 works. Nero 9 Works (cba searching for the build number) Thats about all i have installed because im stilll on 6956 and i am updating in a few days.
