    Hi All!

I need a help with updating BIOS in my Acer Aspire E5-511 notebook.

Now notebook is working under Ubuntu with BIOS version 1.03 while the latest version is 1.08. Ubuntu uses grub loader with UEFI suuport.

Unfortunately Acer does not provide any update utility rather one running under Windows 8.1/10 x64.

I've tried to use bootable USB with Windows PE 8.1 x64, but it was unable to load OS nether in UEFI nor in Legacy mode.

Is there any way to successfully update BIOS in my conditions?

Actually I am not planning to install a second OS just for updating BIOS - there is simply not enough place.
Any other ideas? Maybe some DOS-mode tool for updating?

    Tito,
damn I really forgot CRISIS mode in Acer!
    Thanks for reminding.
Everything works fine except "Z5WAL.fd" looks like incorrect name for this model.
I have copied Z5WAL.fd into Z5WALx64.fd, A5WAM.fd and isflash.bin files so the system picked up one of them and update was successful.
Thanks once again for the idea and case is closed now.

P.S. I have asked an official Acer support for help and the only thing they could advise was to go to service centre
