    Hi,

I'm out of touch with XP for a while now ..Is there a way by which we can activate XP SP3 in VM...MTK I believe works with Windows Vista and above? o_O

Would be glad if someone could point me in the right direction..

    Regards..:D

Right...Is there any other alternative like a loader or something like that for XP?..because I don't feel comfortable modding the BIOS and with OEM:SLP Configuration :(

See here; but OEM:SLP is better solution. No bios modding is necessary, just modify the DMI.

You should mention it earlier. Currently your options are:

    • Patch VirtualBox to add Microsoft SLP string.
    • Add any simple SLP sting in DMI (example: HP) and use this along with HP OEMBIOS set.
    • Install with fresh VL media & use the above mentioned key.

    Sorry for that (mea culpa)

How can I add a simple SLP string in the DMI?..I understand the rest of the procedure:

I just have to match the CRC32 of that and download the corresponding OEMBIOS set..

    Is that it?

Hello, you not need set OEMBIOS string... you can download modified Virtualbox BIOS (add string Windows_Virtual_XP_F9161D8E7FCC11DDBFAA369856D89593 on position 0x908A) and set extradata for VM: VBoxManage setextradata "Windows XP mode" VBoxInternal/Devices/pcbios/0/Config/BiosRom "/path/to/downloadbios.bin" and Windows XP mode in VirtualBox is activated!
