Hy! I'm wondering if someone could take time to explain me some things regarding windows 7 and my pc (laptop). I have the 'Lenovo ideapad 310-15IKB, it came without any OS preinstalled. So i got myself a copy of windows 7 professional 64 (x15-65805.iso - from digitalriver) and I'm curious about the updates. Can I have all the updates even though I used the windows loader (can i download them through windows update or any other way?)? Another thing is, i dunno but, i think i have a really hard time getting the drivers updated...intel driver update utillity can't find nothing, and i have the processor (i7) and the mbo (kaby lake?!) and the integrated graphics. Any suggestions on what's the best course of action on getting my laptop updated ('windows and drivers'-wise)? I'd be very thankful. Edit: also when I want to update my nvidia graphic card it says that I have to install my intel driver (which i cant)
Actually you are installing win 7 on, officially, unsupported hardware, so obtaining proper drivers can be an issue. About the use of the loader and WU, no problems there, but MSFT has blocked updating windows on unsupported hardware like kaby lake and rizen systems. There exist patches for it but maybe it's better for you to use the Simplix Update Pack, it updates win 7 SP1 and circumvents the hardware blockage.
Oh, thank you very much for your answer. So this means I should be able to find/install my drivers after I install the upgrade pack?
No, the driver issue is at the hardware manufacturer/msft side, has nothing to do with updates, etcetc... Some manufacturers still make them for 7 on kablylake/rizen but many don't.
Thank you guys for your help! I've succeded to update my windows, and now I'll try to dig up some drivers. Thanks one more time! My ocd cured, my gf satisfied! Cheers!
