Hi there. As the title of the thread says. When I open an ISO to mount it with Windows Explorer, I get an error saying "error mounting the file". I have tried all the solutions I saw on the net and none of them worked: - Delete from a part of the registry 2 keys called filttros. - Set as default the explorer to open iso or img files. - Disable from windows defender everything in the section "reputation based protection". - Etc And nothing worked, could it be that having disabled windows defender something has been corrupted? Everything else is fine (notepad, snipping tool, etc..), all these applications were corrupted by disabling windows defender, can it be that something has been corrupted in xplorer and now can not mount iso's? Best regards!

Install vhdattach usually it solves messed stock image mounter troubles (and add a very useful contextual menu) If doesn't help, just forget about the stock feature and install the imtoolkit ram disk, it's tiny (like 600k) and add the capability to mount practically any image, not just ISO and VHD, but also VMDK, VDI, any Floppy disk image. It add also the ability to capture a real CDROM/DVD/Floppy and so on in a image file, and obviously is also one of the best RAM disk out there. It's also a free SW.
Hi, thanks for the help but I don't understand those steps, it seems complicated, also you have to install a third party program, don't you? I would like to recover the windows file explorer to mount the ISO but I can't find the solution, otherwise I would have to install UltraISO itself, but you have to install a third party program and that's what I don't want. Of course that sensitive is this operating system :S, I'm sure it's something of the damn windows defender (disable it with defender control). But enabling windows defender again with that application, everything remains the same, I can not mount the ISO's. Is not there any Powershell command to re "install" the issue of mounting the images with the file explorer? Best regards
Hello again. If someone had the same problem and did not find a solution, I have found it! I simply had disabled from the "device manager the Microsoft virtual drive enumerator". By re-enabling it I can mount ISO's again with the file explorer!!!!. I found the solution myself by tinkering with a little bit of logic. Best regards!
