Using HDD Low Level Format Tool v4.40 on a recent model Toshiba Satellite C50-A5175FM there's a device detected, new for my experience as I've never seen it before:

    BUS: FBVIRTUAL
    MODEL: Msft Virtual Disk
    Firmware: 1.0
    Serial number: 000000
    LBA: 6144
    Capacity: 3145.72 KB

    WTH is that?

It is definitely some sort of Microsoft virtual disk... it's tiny though. What operating system is on the laptop? Does it have a cache drive?

Thank you guys I found what's going on. Turns out I ran HDD LLF tool from within a RamOS (Win8PESE) for the very first time in my life and there's where it shows that virtual drive.

After installing installing Windows 8.1 on this laptop on its HDD, I ran the tool once again the virtual drive is gone L0L.

I think it has something to do with that RamOS, interesting though.
