I recently discovered the story of Gary Webb, who wrote an expose titled "Dark Alliance" which exposed the United States CIA's involvement in the crack epidemic in Los Angeles, California during the 1980's. A movie was made "Kill the Messenger" which tells part of the story, albeit from a Hollywood, "entertainment" perspective. But there was also a documentary made, titled "Freeway: Crack in the System" and I cannot find this video anywhere. There's a very ugly, grainy version on Youtube but I'm not sure if it's legit. I'm looking for a DVD rip or similar quality. I couldn't find it on Amazon, Netflix or even eBay. I'm wondering if it's being suppressed by the US Government. (That's why I came here to ask.) Btw, if you don't know the story, at the end Gary Webb commits "suicide" by shooting himself in the head, twice.
Yeah, I spent quite some time looking for that and have found nothing but references to it. It seems as if since his last arrest, the internet has been sanitized of that video to the point that even ebay does not have it. Next stop: Internet archive. Edit to add: the former prison guard who stole Rick Ross's identity and went on to make a fortune as a musician is not helping by obfuscating my searches.
How can it be a "pirate movie" if it is not available anywhere ? Edit to add: Start listening at 50:20 - 51:01 https://archive.org/details/STFreewayRickRossFullShow Right from the horses (Mule's ?) mouth.
Meh. This is one of the most dissident, anti-government stories I've ever encountered in my whole life. Gary Webb discovered evidence that the Federal Government was facilitating the importation of cocaine into the United States in order to fund the revolutionary "Contras" in Central America. There's never been a bigger story in the history of Journalism, and it's still being actively suppressed by the Federal Government. My reasoning is that if you have a problem with the monopolistic and and criminal collusion between the US Government and Microsoft, you are probably interested in a story like this. So, it's not just a simple matter of "the people here are software pirates". My think was that "the people here" would care about a story like this. It's incredibly interesting and you might find it to be so also, if you spend some time researching it. Thanks I listened to the relevant passage and got the general idea that the movie was a lot of pre-production talk but never actually was produced.
On your first link, that is the clip but it does not match the movies for sale. The "1st & 2nd parts" are the movie. Thanks. Edit to add: Bulgaria?? How on earth did you find that ?
Really ? May I please see your correct wording ? I just now gave google the title, filetype, and location and... well... http://b2.ifrm.com/309/115/0/p707645/freeway.png My "spell" ain't working Obiwan. Edit to add: What I mean is if the above video was in fact banned in the US, it would make sense that I am unable to find it via Google, yet you are. Should that be the case I can't help but wonder what else is being hidden from us, and why some other things are not.
You know, They say history repeats itself. After watching this movie in conjunction with "Kill the Messenger" (2014) I can't help but wonder if today's opioid crisis is just "business as usual" for the CIA.
