My Windows 11 ssd disk thinks it is a USB drive. SOLVED!!!! I only have one drive which is a ssd hard drive but when I try updating it I get a error saying it can not update a usb drive
@jimt-47 I think it would be best if you first told us what kind of computer it is, whether the so-called SSD is already installed there by the factory or you installed it yourself. And if you installed it yourself, what was there before, did you install it instead of some HDD or is it NVMe M.2 instead, as already mentioned above. If you installed it yourself, did you make the appropriate changes in the BIOS, etc. In short, as long as it is not known what it is all about, no advice can be given.
Maybe you have "Hot plug" or "Hot swap" enabled for the port the SSD is connected to. Check the storage section in your bios.
@jimt-47 This has nothing to do with the SSD drive. It's just Windows that (wrongly) thinks it's a win to go installation. Just go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control And change PortableOperatingSystem from 1 to 0 That's all
