Uhm? Guess even tutorials arent always helpful, .extension does refer to the extensions you see listed... .exe .inf .png etc you get a huge list.. select the extension you want to have 'notepad.exe' removed from.. then you have a key called 'OpenWithList', use your brain a little so you don't screw it up^^
that was a bit use full but, what I am trying to do is to .lic files not to be associated with notepad i got into the regedit as a admin but I dont see the notepad.exe what am i doing wrong?
@christian666 Check Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs Set default programs! And change if notepad is associated with .lic. Or just delete the .lic from the list.
You could also right click on a .Txt file. select Open with, make sure you have the small square ticked, and select, notepad in the offered list. It will then be the default.
@ christian666, you don't want to remove .txt file type what happens then when you want to edit a .txt file. What you want to do is associate .lic file type with notepad or wordpad.
I notice that after I try to delete the regedit .lic association is still there/ is it because after associating a unknown file which the comp does not know which program to associated with, after the associated is made the computer always need at least one program to associated the unknown file as a default???
okay, but what will this do? --> what I am trying to do is to dissociated notepad with .lic file, in order so that when I need to rename the file extension I can do it. Cause if I try to do this and notepad is associated with .lic file, when I try to rename the .lic file the new name will be xxx.lic.dat as an example
