Hi all As the title mentions, I downloaded a Windows 10 Home ISO directly from MS, and created a USB thumbstick with it using Rufus. Installed Win10 successfully but of course now it wants me to activate, and won't, with error 0x803f7001 Did I do this wrong, because I didn't first Install Win7 and activate it with some kind of old generic key? I guess I (probably wrongly) assumed that there would be a utility available at this point to activate a fresh Win10 but I can't find the relevant information. Thank you all very much for any assistance here. Hoping I don't need to wipe everything out and do this again :/ Cheers, from Toronto!

First, the used method of creating the installmedia never has anything to do with the activation, when it's installed it's installed. How did you expect to have it activated? It only activates by itself when a MSDM for Home is inside the bios, or a HWID is established.
Thank you all for the response, I did a bunch more reading and it lead me to a KMSPico & Auto Pico program. My only concern is that it's virii or something, it looks super crude and plays a bunch of extremely loud .wav files as sound effects and stuff. Very bizarre indeed, hope I didn't trojan myself
I did. His post contains a links.txt and I got it from one of his official links But the program itself is very strange, it has a big red button .gif and the entire program looks like it was made in Visual Basic back in 1990, complete with weird .wav files and sound effects. Not what I expected at all. Does this sound right?

If you want a more up-to-date version without that nonsense, check out Microsoft toolkit from my signature. 'EZ-Activator' from 'Activation' tab is similiar to KMSpico features.

Things that might interfer with KMS activation in general: Antivirus (sometimes even disabling still leaves the scanning partially enabled) Wrong Time/Date settings System corruptions In case errors appear, post in the respective thread .
use the creators tool and download 10586 abd become an insider that will let you update with an implied license ,(watchout for 17063 ,) HAS TO BE DOWNLOADED AS AN ISO FILE MSFT CHANGED THE WAY THE SIGN APPLICATION DRIVERS AND CHANGED THE BOOTSTRAP ORDERsorry about the caps ,have big hands .little keyboard syndrome ,merrychristmas happy chanuukah.
