I am attempting to install Windows7 64 bit on a secondary NTFS partition, but each time the Windows installer has to restart as it progresses with the install, the installation process starts over from the beginning instead of continuing where it left off.

I believe this may be caused by a Grub issue (I am dual booted with Ubuntu 14.04), as the USB loader for Windows will not load automatically unless I interrupt startup and enter the boot order and select the USB stick with the WIndows install. I had a similar issue last night with a different windows7 64bit install, but restarting a few times seemed to resolve the issue.

I have enabled 'boot USB first' in my BIOS but it does not change fix the issue.(Other USB disks will boot first normally ei BOOT REPAIR or GPARTED), but not this Windows installer.

Not sure what is going on or how to resolve the issue.

the version I am trying to install is:

    Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 x64 Updated 12.05.2011 MSDN-MULTI

NOTE - I found an answer. Had to remove the USB drive right after the first part of the installation was completing.
