U can try this when its downloaded and run the scan, end the task mrt.exe. Then it will finish the update, sometimes it will say failed, but after retry its mostly gone, and will not show it anymore.
I believe when you extract the mrt.exe from the downloaded file you can place it in "c:\windows\system32" windows will thinks it's already installed (i've noticed some windows releasers cheat that way to get a release which looks like it's fully updated). There also should be a reg key that excludes it from being downloaded by WU.
I came back to post that I renamed the \Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and ran updates again and it said KB890830 was already installed. Thanks for the suggestions though.
@pf100 Hi dude, is very strange I already see that this \Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder ever have some type of problem I don't understand why and for correct we ever need rename/delete your content really very strange; I'm happy that you solve problem
%Windows%\SoftwareDistribution\Download must always be emptied (by hand or by using a third-party program) after the updates are installed. It has always been so.Windows have not emptied it never, but if there are programs, then they indicate to Windows, that they need to be installed. So remember to empty this folder and You'll never have such a problems, as here was written.
^^ yep I agree dude so for those that want one good is simply download Malwarebytes this yes works fine forget other applications useless
I've always known that MRT is only slightly better than nothing but have always installed it just because it was offered even though it's never found any infection not once ever in my life. I was concerned that maybe it was getting hung up on a rootkit or some other infection, but no, it was just hung up for no obvious reason (error 0x8024001e). I use Avira and Malwarebytes Premium. Avira caught a couple of things in the last few years that I remember, and isn't the best, but whatever. Malwarebytes Premium is the most helpful thing I've used.
