Hi, I have a Packard Bell TJ65 which came with Vista and slic 2.0. I know there are newer models of tj65 which comes with Windows 7; and BIOS updates in the packard bell site are generic for all tj65 models. I've done BIOS updates previously and the slic of my computer is still 2.0. Now, When i look into setting.ini file of the flasher program, there is a setting named, "UPDATE_SLPDATA=0" under "[UPDATE_DATA]" section. Do you think if I change this setting to "UPDATE_SLPDATA=1" and flash the bios, my slic will be updated to 2.1 so no need for bios modding?? Here is the link of the bios: h t t p://no_short_urls_allowed/pClW1r
I've opened the rom file in hex editor and when i go to E2 there are 4 bytes of 00's. so i think the new bios also has slic 2.0. but then, how can new models have slic 2.1? here is the screenshot: h t t p://tinypic.com/r/9itljs/7
E2? No idea what you're talking about Your bios contains both 2.0 and 2.1 SLIC's in BIOS, open ROM file and search for "ACRSYSACRPRDCTWINDOWS" you will notice there are two instances, one for 2.0 SLIC the other for 2.1 SLIC Updating with 'UPDATE_SLPDATA=0' results in 2.0 SLIC? Then (once again) i would simply try it with 'UPDATE_SLPDATA=1'
Ok I was tried to do the things in h t t p://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/5765-Windows7-SLICs-and-activation-latest-news!!!?p=66769#post66769 but it looks like i'm screwed it up I will try update_slpdata=1 after creating a crisis disk.
Yep, thats just a example for a whole different system. In comparison to that example your find similar values in your bios, eg: 2.0 SLIC = 0x1198CA -> 0x1198CD 2.1 SLIC = 0x119A1C -> 0x119A1F
I've flashed the bios with update_slpdata=1 and it is still slic 2.0 so it didn't work. maybe someday i may use the modded bios (which exists). thanks.
