It's the alternative link they offer and since that site is german i thought i provide it directly . jDownloader is one of the tools i use but i always search for the portable version as the installer is pure fraud .
Exactly this is the reason why I was looking for a reliable/original/whatever lol download link for it. Thank you very much s1ave77, now I need to configure my AppGuard to make it run.
This files are not working, either they aren't good or something is wrong with my systems. Double clicked on the exe and nothings shows up, looked in Task Manager and just javaw.exe instance is launched.
Unfortunately you are correct, checked them in two VMs with same outcome . Sadly i have no idea where to get a working version now without the crappy installer .
Yes, I found the same thing. I ended up just using web install without adware. The beta 2 seems to be pretty good so far. Damn I've lost my up.to details!!!
You can get clean installers directly from them: board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=54725 . Now, these installers are not exactly portable. But, at its core, JDownloader is already portable; meaning that once installed, you can move the JDownloader folder wherever you want and it will be executed from there without problems. If you're feeling particularly paranoid, you could execute the installer inside Sandboxie, and once you're done you could move the folder out of the sandbox. By the way, by default, JDownloader will use the Java version that comes prepackaged with it. If you want to force it to use the updated version you have on your system, you have to delete the "jre" folder inside JDownloader's folder. This is at least true for the Windows version.
Can confirm that it's portable (after installing once) ... tested in 2 VMs by simply copying to desktop and running it successfully both times .
Thank you so much doggie You saved me precious time... When I had time to test it, I'm going to try the java thingy hehe.
Looks like the default installer that comes bundled with tons of crap. As the latest Beta is running smooth and seems to be sober, i would go with that.
For anyone else who is wondering which one to choose, you should know that JDownloder 2 BETA is unofficially the official product. Some fixes for some of the nagging problems plus new features are only available in the latest version. Also, problems with hosters are resolved much quicker; wih the difference being, in some cases, between the same day vs a couple weeks.
As already mentioned, after installing it once it is 'portable', simply save the installed folder and use it elsewhere.
