Solution in post #10 Using a headset, the latest Windows 10 and latest firmware (SBOM_PCFW_EN_180502.exe) the following never happened using Windows 8.1 and 7. At random moments Sound stops playing and the youtube video stops. Games completely freeze. Until I unplug and re-plug the SoundBlaster USB. I can also set audio-output to my ASUS screen, which then continues the video/game. Re-plugging the the Soundblaster USB usually helps on videos and music...but some games usually stay frozen. Im aware Microsoft and Creative are working on this problem since Windows 10 (1803) and claimed to have fixed it. I tried to use the newer, external XFI Drivers as recommended on some forums, as it uses the same audio chip. But Windows says "latest drivers already installed". There are no warnings regarding this in Windows events and as I (and others) said, its only happening in Windows 10. I checked for everything by now and Im aware Im not alone, other SoundBlaster products doing the same in Windows 10. Any chance someone here experienced the same and might have found another solution / temp fix ? Regards
the report is win10 drivers dont work well on this device u would need to go back to win 8.1 or wait and pray MS rolls out a working driver....have u reported this to soundblaster vendor they are responsible for delivering a working driver for win10
i dont know what solution u will find here sense the only drivers that work are made for win7 and 8.1....have u tried installing the drivers in compatibility mode?
Yes I have tried old drivers in compatibility mode. Creatvie does offer official Wind10 drivers though.
yes but their not very good... purely writing drivers....the only solution out their now is to roll back to 8.1...maybe u get lucky and a third party rewrites that driver and fixes the issue.
@daniel_k It does indeed say Driver Version "1.3.26.9"...but I installed the driver pack from Creative back then ?! I took "your" drivers and it now enlists it indeed as "1.3.26.25". (rightclick, Update Driver) Ok, testing...I'll be back.
Glad to know it fixed your issue. I'd say those mainstream/entry-level Creative USB soundcards barely sell, otherwise there would be many owners complaining about issues and Creative would have released the driver you're using as an official update.
With the latest Windows 10 Update 20H2, the volume randomly is at 100% sometimes, no matter where I set the slider. I have to unplug and replug the Omni Surround to fix this. Best done without any app/game running...as it will completely freeze the desired app.
