i had used UEFI_MULTI for my multiboot purpose i have able to get things done in bios mode..but i dont get how to boot windows iso or any live iso from grub2 in efi mode (since rEFInd include Grub2 efi loader) i m using 32gb usb flash drive for this purpose can anyone help me??
Bios\MBR is what is used by grub4dos and E2B. They are 100% incompatible with EFI. I am 100% sure when i say there is no known way to boot an efi Windows iso under EFI. You CAN boot an EFI Linux iso with a loopback file from EFI grub2, but that is it. Period. Stop looking for ways, there are none.
i have managed to get it done..not by iso but changing bootmanager entries.. and if i was stopped looking for ways...i wouldn't knew about this method..so stop de-moralising others...
Earlier i was not able to boot windows iso by grub2..windows iso are not made for loopback, like what other linux iso does. Then i refered to uefi_multiboot guide and was able to get modified winPE with tblauncher.. My purpose is solved now Now i have following config 32 gb usb flash drive with Grub4dos as my bios bootloader And refind as my uefi bootloader..
i am still thinking of giving a try on "supergrub2 disk" ...(regardless the loopback truth)... it has option to dump any iso in its iso folder and it will automatically loopback the iso.. let me check on that!!
Don't bother, its bios. How about this approach. Boot a minimal x64 efi WinPE and then mount the iso from within the pe (with imdisk or something) and run setup. It's a 50-50 solution of what you want
i have tested it in EFI vmware...it booted!! now when i have a X64 winpe 4.0 and tblauncher, i can open WINNTSETUP partition hdd by booticex64 and then setup win8 or whatever winOS!! wouldnt be that simple??
Yup, it's pretty much that simple. Theres a good 10+ ways to install Windows, and that's 1. In regards to supergrub2disk, i have super_grub_disk_hybrid-1.98s1.iso and am 100% sure it's not EFI.
