I recently bought a Sony Vaio Duo 13 which came preinstalled with Windows 8 Single Language

Now I have downloaded Windows 8.1 Single Language and when I try to upgrade:

    1. It does not automatically pick the key from BIOS
    2. I extracted the product key and entered manually but it says the key is not valid for this version

How do I upgrade to 8.1 Single Language now? I do not want to install any other version.

Windows 8.1 doesn't read the key from the BIOS directly like Windows 8 did

You have to enter the key posted above (that's just a default key for the sake of installation and you cannot use it to activate)

Once you are in Windows, activate your Windows 8.1 using your key stored in your BIOS

To know what is the key stored in your BIOS, make sure to run Belarc Advisor first so it can read it
