I'm trying to clean install Windows 10 on a HP 250 G5 notebook I always used a usb flash drive This time instead of the regular installation it open automatically a Command Prompt Ok, i thought maybe this notebook got problems with usb... tried all 3 usb ports... nothing Tried to upgrade the bios to latest F.49... nothing change. Tried to burn Windows 10 iso on a dvd... nothing change. Everytime only a Command Prompt is loaded, and if i try to write on it, (i thought to run "setup.exe") it displays "^S^E^T^U^P" What's wrong??
Can you check boot.wim index 2 "windows\system32" if it contains a winpeshl.ini file? If it exists, what is the content of it?
Hi @Enthousiast , there is NOT that file, but a winpeshl.exe EDIT: I just installed on a Lenovo laptop, with same usb flash drive and all worked, as usual EDIT 2: For now my workaround is to remove the brand new ssd from that HP 250 G5, put it into the Lenovo laptop, install Windows 10 just to the first reboot then put again SSD into the HP. Now I can complete the Windows 10 installation process.
@aquarius84 Is it a UEFI machine and it uses the default UEFI boot system or did you try to install using the legacy method?
@kaljukass it is a UEFI machine, and I tried the UEFI install the strange thing is that the same usb flash drive I use and used before works/worked in every UEFI system anyway... i solved my problem, as I said, removing the ssd from HP and placing into a Lenovo laptop, then doing the first step of Windows 10 setup and back the ssd into HP now the HP is working ok
