I have tried to upgrade a laptop bearing a Windows 8.1 Single Language OS a while ago. I have used the ISO MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.10.PRO-CORE.RTM.10240.X64.OEMRET.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT to upgrade it. Same ISO have been used on the other laptop with Windows 8.1 Pro WMC. The Problem: The laptop bearing a Windows 8.1 Single Language OS (OEM activated) ask for a key when trying to upgrade (in-place). The laptop with Windows 8.1 Pro WMC upgraded successfully without needing a key. The laptop bearing a Windows 8.1 Single Language OS has been updated with latest updates already but I haven't seen any icon for the reservation of Windows 10. What could have been the problem? I am thinking of adding a feature to make the Windows 8.1 SL into Pro and then applying kms and then upgrading it to Windows 10 again. Will it work? Has anybody tried to Upgrade a Windows 8.1 activated via kms to Windows 10 and does not ask a key?
Just proceed with the Upgrade, do NOT put any Product Key in just skip if get asked for! It should autoactivate after the install is done!
Sounds like Tito is correct, as people who have posted the skip is missing, it was a OS mismatch. OS was looking for a key because windows didn't see it as a upgrade criteria.
"single language" editions are found in developing countries only... most threads/information on here are US/Euro centric, so the upgrade matrix chart won't talk about it because "single language" edition was never available in USA and Europe! as the others said, you need to upgrade to 10 single language
Not totally true, I've seen Tablets here in the UK that are using SL, most of them No Brand tablets but also few HP Stream 7's
Thanks for the replies guys. So, I need a Windows 10 Single Language ISO then to be able to upgrade the Windows 8.1 Single Language OS. But what puzzles me is that the icon for free windows 10 reservation does not show up? Is it okay to upgrade it right away like just downloading the Media Creation tool found in MS website? It will download the appropriate version of windows, right?
It is OK. That is why MS pushed Media Creation tool in such a hurry. ISO will be the most convenient. Remember, upgraded once for MS Activation Server Record, then you can do the fresh installation flawlessly.
And so I have downloaded the Windows 10 Single Language ISO. Started the upgrade and it didn't ask for a key. Now it's all good. Thanks all guys.
Windows 7 + Daz Loader + Windows 10 Upgrade = Windows 10 Activated Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate highly recommended.
