    I have a OEM: DM windows 8(Core) key that came with my laptop. I used RWeverything to obtain the key from my bios

    I just finished reformatting and installing windows 8.1(N) using MS mediacreation tool. I used the generic 8.1 key for the install process, now when I try to active with my windows 8 key, I'm getting an error message saying that the key I used isn't compatible with the current version of windows that is installed.

    I don't have a windows 8 iso.

    What can I do now?

    i have windows 8 RTM core OEM: DM

    Is it possible that I have installed 8.1 core (N) instead of 8.1 core, could this be causing the rejection of my windows 8 key?

    if no, where can I obtain a version of windows 8 RTM core?

    @bbos

    N edition is considered as different SKU. You need to download & install 8.1 Core.
