its previewing the files in folder.. set to detail view and reset to all folders ?

reset defaults in the new win 10 app not the classic.
then set the prefered video player of choice. and browser.

seems its rechecking huge files on folder access.. indexing issue ?

you can use process explorer and procmon from sysinternals to actually see what is going on when the issue , channel9 defrag tools is a good place to start if you don't know how to use these apps ...have used them before to track down cpu and ram issues..

Hard faults generally happen when there is less system memory and there are too many programs running in the background...
How much memory do you have and what is the size of the swap file ?
Also post how many processes are running when this error occurs...

The solution is to remove ".ts" from the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\SystemPropertyHandlers

I had this issue but i resolved it by disabling windows 10 updates as well as Micro-soft office 2016 telemetry.
If you have hybrid boot enabled in windows 10 , it interferes with windows 10 updates , reason being updates required reboot and hybrid boot does not performs actual reboot !

100% disk activity in task manager was due to updates stuck in loop and not getting through.
