Hi all. Just after some tips really and I think it might envolve the HOSTs file. I have a couple of HOSTs files which I mainly use for activating Adobe software. One file though blocks loads of sites but sometimes I find this a bit OTT. I have a couple of APPs which seem to me to "call home" then all of a sudden they know my serial is bogus and stop working. One is Acoustica CD\DVD lable maker and the other which seem to get effected are ImToo apps. These install with my bogus serial and work fine then it all goes wrong. I am not sure how adding type to the HOSTs file stops Adobe calling home but I would like to know if this works with other APPS,i.e the ones I just mentioned. i wouldn't know what to add though. I have tried blocking them throw the firewall...urrrrrrrr ???? Any tips,pointers or advice would be great.. Thanks...
I usually block the apps with the firewall, I add the respective application to the blocked app list, so they are not able to call home. BTW, I use Comodo Firewall and my policy is set on SAFE MODE, so it asks every time an application wants to connect to the internet.
