I'm quite sure it's not included. I installed sp1 and didn't have the wat folder. Then I tried to validate and it took a very long time, after which I duddenly had the wat folder, which means it was jsut downloaded during validation.

Another thing is that, although not necessary, many companies are waiting for sp1 to deploy windows 7. But I can imaging that many companies don't like wat phoning home. So this could still hold some companies from buying win7.

 

Well, I did search my desktop and there's no WAT folder even though I did install SP1 as you can see from the link on puzyr post

I don't see it being offered in SP1. Also, when it was offered for SP0, it was marked as an important update, but it was never auto-selected for install. When MSFT released the WAT update, their official position (that they put a lot of effort into emphasizing) was that it will only be installed with the explicit consent of the user--it will not be auto-installed.

 

Block KB971033 only, all other updates are fine.

 

You see, that's the problem. I have 3 fresh SP1 installs from integrated media, one on a live machine, and two on virtual machines. And I don't see the WAT update anywhere. Yes, seeing is believing, and I see that it's not there.

Also I have never seen WAT be auto-selected when it was offered on SP0 (even though I checked the option to install recommended updates).

I wonder if this could be a regional thing. Maybe MSFT is pushing the WAT hotfix only in high-piracy regions. I'm in the US. You?

What are the consequences of not installing KB971033? Will MSE still work?

 

It's present in the final version of the fix list released last week, yet some say that it only comes in WU. That's puzzling.

 

Here's my experience....

I blocked 971033 when it was offered through WU last year. Last time I looked (a week or two ago) it was still in the hidden updates list. I installed SP1 last week (from the WZOR release), and checking yesterday it was showing up as an intalled update, installed in September 2010!

WU however gave me the option to uninstall this update which I did. Not necessary I suppose since I've been activated fine (via DAZ' loader) since installing SP1.

So was 971033 included in SP1? Was it required to install SP1 and automatically installed from my hidden updates list? And how come I was able to remove it when all reports suggest this is not possible?

 

When i look into my hidden updates kb971033 is gone but when i checked on installed updates it isn't on the list. Did microsoft abandon kb971033???

After installing the sp1 for x64 from wzor's torrent I now have the Wat folder in syhstem32 and SysWow64, I had to reactivate with Daz' Win7 Loader but I am oem activated again. my rig is Asus slic 2.1 modded. what will uninstalling it achieve?
