In order to download Windows Vista SP1 through Windows Update copy and paste everything below into notepad and save it as SP1BetaRK_ext.cmd It may take some time before Windows Update recognizes your computer as a valid SP1 target. Also it may or may not have to install up to 3 additional updates (one at a time in sequence) before it even shows you SP1. @echo off reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSp1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d a2c3c14a-9586-4d37-9aaa-79fbd64069d2 /f reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\VistaSP1 /v Beta1 /t REG_SZ /d a2c3c14a-9586-4d37-9aaa-79fbd64069d2 /f echo Vista SP1 registry key has been set. Please check for updates in Windows Update. Please note: I learned the hard way that SP1 won't install through Windows Update if you built your own Vista DVD with vLite. You have to install with an untouched retail or OEM disk.
Hello, nice advice. I added those 2 registry keys 4 hours ago and I received 3 updates: Update for Windows Vista (KB935509) Update for Windows Vista (KB937287) Update for Windows Vista (KB938371) But still not SP1, is it normal? thanks
....for me it worked. but i had 15 days left for activation. After installing the oem certificate and product key again it was o.k.
I also tried on mine and all I can download are the 3 hotfixes listed above, but can't find sp1 update
Attention Before going on with this procedure you have to know that SP1 for VISTA, provided by Microsoft via Windows Update, is a beta version for evaluation purposes and expires in June 2008.
anyone installing a BETA SP for anything else than experimental purposes should be hanged by his nuts if crying for help^^
Vista SP1 is not showing in Windows Update becouse SP1 beta is avaible in English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish. If you have any other languages installed on your system, Windows Update will not offer you Windows Vista SP1 Beta.
