I was quite happy after the windows 10 anniversary update until I noticed the spinning circle that is evident every time one restarts or shutdowns was gone. Only the words "restarting" or "shutting down" appear on screen no spinning circle. Can this be fixed? Is there a file or registry entry responsible for restart and shutdown that maybe corrupt and need replacing? Any help would be appreciated.
I still have circle, try running in Admin Cmd Prompt, sfc /scannow , press enter on keyboard and wait for it to finish Reboot when done if it successfully completes.
I do not think it is a big problem, you could try in control panel under power options, turn off fast startup, it just causes problems. Search for and open “Power options” in the Start Menu. Click “Choose what the power buttons do” on the left side of the window. Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable.” Under “Shutdown settings” make sure “Turn on fast startup is not checked or enabled Then reboot to see if that works
Didn't work. I just believe that the file containing the image files for the spinning circle is not present on my system or is corrupt. Or maybe the registry entry is required...I just don't know.
I don't believe it's a big deal, in fact I would love to not have to look at that thing Might have been registry cleaner removed some entry in registry, don't worry about it
I've had that as well. Maybe it's related to turning off window animations? I don't know. My workaround is to not care about it.
Might be. Go to settings: Ease of Access: Other Option: Visual Options: Play Animation in Windows and mark it ON. Right click This PC: Properties: Advanced system settings: Performance: Settings: Visual Effects: Adjust for best appearance. Apply & Restart.
Yep that did it. It all makes sense now. I had previously disabled a bunch of windows animations before the update. So it means the new update needs these animations for the spinning circle animation to work now. In previous windows 10 versions this was not the case. Many thanks 100 and rockyanexpert.
Another way of putting: “the new update needs these animations for the spinning circle animation to work” is: “the new update correctly considers the spinning circle animation as animation”. To create a spinning circle without system animations would require that the user spins his head the opposite way…
no spinning circle here as well but the reboot is way faster now. I no longer get the "explorer is preventing your machine from restarting" text that I used to get upon every restart.
Is is just me or anyone, why do I see two spinning circles instead? Not that I'm affected, curios to know. These two spinning cogs started right from the build 10586. Build 10240 works correctly, am I missing something?
