I have been following hard disk and SSD prices for quite a while now, primarily on amazon uk. This is because my brother lives there, comes to India every few months, and so can bring the stuff. As everyone would know, HDD prices increased from Nov 2011 but have declined in recent days. For example, a 2TB WD Caviar Black was at 120-130 pounds (currency used from now on), but shot up to 185-200 from Nov 2011. However, recently prices have been down to 170. As an example, I bought a WD 2 TB Caviar Black 2001FASS in Oct 2011 for 125 pounds. More dramatic is the decline in SSD prices. For example, crucial m4 ssd (the one I am targeting) was for most of the last few months at around 85-90 for 64GB and 160-180 for 128 GB. Now its down to 71 for 64GB and 127 for 128GB. Even Intel 520 120GB started at perhaps 180 pounds but is now at 160. Perhaps similar instances can be found for other SSDs which may indicate a price decline of 10-15% within the last 1-2 weeks or so. Any recommendations (Intel SSD 520 120 or crucial m4 128). I can get this in March 2012. For us in India, there is also the recent benefit of Indian rupee appreciating (which went up against the dollar from 46 in Sep 2011 to 52-53 by end-Dec 2011, but is now at 49. Against the pound, it is up from 82-83 to 1 pound to 78 now).
