Hi all, Recently, I built a new machine and just finished installing a Samsung 830 series hard drive (512 gig bundled with norton ghost). I'm running Windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit. I have 32 gig of ram in the system. The system will be used for running Cubase. (I have 5.1, am waiting for 6 to be shipped to me) My concern is that digital recording computers tend to be disk intensive. I've already shut off the paging file. With 32 gig of ram, I didn't see the need for it. My concern is this: Should I be worried about premateurly killing the SSD by doing digital recording? Any thoughts on this? Regards, :Miki. MoBo: ASUS P8Z77 V-PRO CPU: Intel i3770K i7 quad core 3.5 GHZ extreme unlocked. RAM: Crucial balistix 8gb X 4
i beleive the newer ssd drives have a longer life span then regular hard drives. with that said constant re writing will shorten its lifespan ive been using mine for three years now on two different systems as my :c drive's which get a lot of re writes {all my programs that i use and all there updates photo, cad} so go for it
@The Dev: I took your advice and turned the page file back on. Tom's hardware had a thing about SSDs and pagefiles, about how it was not a good idea to turn the page file off. Well...no damage was done, and the build is still lightning fast. I'm thinking so.
