I have a Alienware M14X (Early 2011) which came with a Seagate 750GB Momentus hard drive. I replaced it with a Intel 520 SSD. After a clean install the ST Microelectronics DE351DL Free Fall Sensor is coming up as a Unknown Device in the Device Manager. My question is, is this driver compatible with the Intel 520 SSD or would it be better not to install it? I plan on upgrading to Windows 10 and I don't know if I can even find a driver for it. After doing a search people are having trouble finding Windows 8 drivers. Does anyone know what this driver actually does?
It parks the hard drive when it detects the laptop is falling. So total pointless with a SSD as it has no moving parts.
Yeah, it's pointless for an SSD, but if like me you hate having unknown devices in Device Manager, you can just install the Windows 7 driver, it works fine.
